Global Head of Electronic Markets for Equities, Citi
John Lowrey has had a long and distinguished career of over thirty five years’ experience in the capital markets in a wide variety of leadership roles. John has been at the forefront of many market innovations and is an acknowledged leader in the automation of trading. He built the market leading algorithmic and high speed trading business at Lehman; founded, as CEO of Chi-X Global, a number of exchanges in Asia; and, created a messaging infrastructure, information and data company, MarketPrizm, which was sold to Colt Telecommunications in 2011.
John is presently the Global Head of Electronic Markets for Equities at Citi. Most recently, prior to Citi, he was a Senior Advisor and Venture Partner at The JRJ Group, a London based private equity firm, where he oversaw the group’s technology portfolio and strategy. John ran the electronic trading and data business for JRJ’s largest portfolio company, Marex Spectron. There he build a market leading commodity data business, as well being instrumental in making Marex Spectron the largest electronic broker on the London Metals exchange, and a top five broker on the CME. He has served on the Board of a number of fin-tech companies.
A graduate of Georgetown University, Mr. Lowrey is married with four children and two grandchildren.
